In the canton of Una-Sana on the Bosnian-Croation border migrants live in non-winterized conditions, self-built shacks or abandoned houses, without sanitary facilities or medical care. Voluntary aid organizations provide people with basic necessities. Temperatures drop to minus ten degrees at night. Most of the people have been stuck in Bosnia for month or years. In the recent years the Bosnian-Croatian border has developed in one of the worst and dangerous gates to Europe. With brutal practice Croatian border police prevents the attempts to cross the so called „green“ border with illegal push-backs and forcible deportations back to Bosnia.
